Bez turns 17

Bez turns 17. And that also means that we've been back to Singapore for 10 years! a Decade! Sounds like a long time and now that i sit here, trying to recuperate after an entire day of "slaving" in the kitchen and a hangover from some hard partying, I can't help but get really sentimental about the goings and comings of the past 10 years. Life's been fair, with its ups n downs, happy and sad moments, but overall I am really thankful. I count my blessings. Good old friends like Dor is still in contact. Found a soulmate in Shirin and of course not forgetting our dear Chris, the mee siam man who has now added roast beef to his specialty.
Ok, enough of the mushy stuffs. Now to the party. It's another successfully rowdy and memorable event. I do myself proud with the spread and seeing everyone going back for their numerous helpings, all my hard planning and preparations are really worth it.
Just a pity that amidst all the fun and excitement, I forgot to take pictures of each of the dishes. For the record, I've made Cajun Shrimp Scampi, Lemony Fish with celery and carrots, Bean casserole, Aglio olio, Honey soy chicken, Vegetable Medley, Baked Potatoes, Italian Cheese Bread and Almond Spiked Jelly. Roast Beef compliments from Chris, Sushi from Wenli, Pink Coconut balls from Rachael, wraps from Lingling, fruits from Daisy and a special rice concoction from Shirin. And most of all, my potted "Dirt Cake" which took everyone by surprise. I hope Shirin got a picture of this.

WOW.... Man, i missed yet another fun event! I was trying to imagine how the rest reacted with the dirt cake... hahah....

Wish I were there,looks like everybody is having a good time,wasted I can eat all those goodies !Still bring a good surprise on the cake,good job mum. Cheers !

Oh I loved the cake. I loved the roulette. Shame nobody told those boys the wheel was weighted to one side, ha ha ha!

Well done on the food again Jann! Fabulousssss. Gourmet home cooked food & tricks & glam party hostess. If only I'd known that everyone was staying over so I could finally see Rach getting drunk!

Fajitas Dinner

Sixteen years in Texas and finally now back in Singapore after 10 years, I finally attempted to make this signature dish. Been back for 10 years and still cannot find any restaurant that can come close to the real TexMex Fajitas. Started marinading the flank steak right after noon. Was not able to get hold of the regular Texas lime; so used calamansi & lemon instead. Out of ziploc bag so used the bowl instead. Would be better in the ziploc cos then the flavor will be completely sealed in. But anyhow, it still turned out awesome. Marinade with onions, cilantros, bell pepper, salt & cumin. Finally ready for grill after chilling in marinade for about 6 hours Did the whole enchiladas...man have not used this expression for a while! Guess for this, it is most befitting. Did guacamole, pico de gallo and Mexican rice. All from scratch. Rice is cooked with fresh tomatoes, pureed with onions. Was not able to get any avocados cos those that Daisy bought for me was not ripe yet..

Sex & the City - Gold Class

Gold Class - that's the way to go man! It's like going on business class. Great movie, great company and great experience. Thank you Rachael and Shirin for suggesting it. And Rachael, thank you so much for booking the tickets online. You know its such great fun to dress up for a movie. To feel so excited about a movie outing. Seems to lost that for a while. Isn't that what life is all about? I am so thankful to have girlfriends like you all to spice up my life. You are my Spice Girls! I really enjoyed it. Though I have to agree with Daisy, the next time around I will rather go easy on the dining cos the service disrupted the movie. And it's such a shame that they got Shirin's order mixed up and here we are, Daisy and me wondering why our platter is so humongous. HOw silly of us That aside, the movie itself is really entertaining. You have to know the series to enjoy it. Wonder if they will do a sequel or maybe a Desperate Housewives movie?
