Lunch at RedDot

Image
It sound as if I am selling Red Dot. But really, this is Value for money. For $17 the portion is not your normal set lunch "downsized" Here's the very fresh salad. Very interesting with mashed pumpkins in the salad. Main Course you can have either Carbonara, which Janet and myself and had.. Very filling.. Again must stress that the portion is hugh. Not like some restaurant who downsized their set meal. Shirin and Rachael had this Dory fish thingy. Baked in a zesty tomato sauce. And dessert - Mango Pudding Look how coordinated she is...You look great in that dress.

RedDot Again and again

Image
Yes! Its Red Dot again.... and again. Dinner last Saturday and again today for Set Lunch. We are Red Dot crazy and for a good reason. Good food.. I will definitely bring my boys there. Bez and Wes if you are reading this, its a promise :-) Daisy and me at the entrance Had this drink called "Around the World". It has gin, vodka, rum, pineapple juice and lime juice... pretty kickass Daisy got a "long time no see" gifts for us. Wanna know what, go to Shirin's blog. she got more fotos of this pinky stuff :-) Mixed grill meant for 2. Look at the portion. Exactly what my boys can dig into. I had the pork ribs this time. Very good. Smoky flavor and meat is unusually tender. Great.

Roast Beef

Image
Roast Beef - my first attempt. Under Chris's supervision of course. Lots of black pepper, garlic powder, cumin, oregano and salt. (actually all the available spices i can find in the cupboard) Ta da, look at the pink in the middle. Not over cooked. Served with my famous bean casserole No roast beef is complete without your spuds. Roast potatoes with lots of rosemary and cheese. From the look of this empty plate, it has got to be yummy right? Don't just take my words for it. Ask Daisy, Alex or my boys....

Food Republic

Image
Gee, i know things are not cheap these days. Prices of everything have gone up. But I was still in for a shock at Food Republic the other day. Paid $4.50 for a bowl of mee soto. Ok, I know thats not bad for a food court price. But what a shock i got when i saw the bowl served in front of me. It's like what we would get at a school canteen. U know, small serving and lacking in every bit of garnishing. No kidding. Just a wee bit of noodles with half a boiled egg. I had just did an hour of yoga and ran 8km in the treadmill. I deserve more!!!!!!!Ok, I was famished. But that is really not value for your money. It's no wonder Singapore is listed as the 5th most expensive cities in Asia. Its true that rental in Vivo City is astronomical. But still, that is ridiculous. What impression will it gives the tourists? In the same mall, down at B2, there is this Sarawak or Sabah noodles.. i think its call KO Lo Mee or something like that. Same mall and not even food court standard

Check out my ToyBoy

Image
Look what i found in Daisy's housewarming party! My ToyBoy. No Kidding; thanks to Roy, he is literally a ToyBoy cos he is Roy's partner. (for those who don't know, he's Alex toy supplier) Cute right? Daisy call him Pikachu, but i think he is more like Ash, the keeper. Between Daisy, Wendy and Rachael, I think we really gave him quite a scare at first. But hey, look at the picture, he was really quite spotting.. btw, toyboy name is .....oh no,....... i forgot! Help!! Just been told his name is Cal..30 single, straight and available.

My Chili Crab

Image
After last Saturday's visit to RedDot, I was so inspired to cook Crab Linguine a la REdDot. Bought all the ingredients; but at the last minute, chicken out. Instead, here's my Chili Crab, Singapore/Jann's style. The linguine - made my usual Aglio thingy but this time with chicken broth. And of course, just to be sure to make use of my new breadmaker, i made some pizza for the boys too. Fresh red chilies, garlic, onion and not shown here, lemon grass and galangal Not easy, but managed to "kill" the crab. I had to say a prayer after that. TA daaaaa. My own concoction. Alex, who is not a usual crab fan, was happily digging in. Not bad for a first time. Thou i am still keen to try the linguine al la Crab :-)

Planet's Mega Combat

Image
Wow this is my 4th year attending! And that also means I have quit smoking for 4 years! Well done Jann! A pat on my own back. Maybe another good reason to go party! heeehhee... Reddot maybe.. hahahaa... Yes, maybe it's true. Like what Shirin said, the excitement is kind of off already. Well after 4 years and in her case 5 years, that's quite understandable. But we got some pretty cool pictures before the combat. Check out Shirin's blog. She has it there. But that aside, i have to say i was totally pumped up right on the first track. Maybe being right in front of Rhomeiny helped. It was exhilarating. As usual this event always coinicide with NDP's rehearsal and we had the fly past right above us during combat. Great feelings. Seems so appropriate. This time around none in our family got the lucky draw. For those who don't know, back in 2006 Alex got the 2nd prize and Daisy's the first prize (trip for 2 to Bali). Then in 2007, Bezner got the 1st prize

Hey Alan, if u are reading this blog, Thank you for the invite to dinner at RedDot. Love it! Nice ambience, good service and great food! Great al fresco settings; and of course we are lucky that it was a cool evening . Lighted steps to welcome guest... Hey, its 25A Dempsey. This set lunch seems like such a good deal. Daisy and Alex, we must go try this set lunch one day. Will probably want to sit indoor for lunch thou. Shirin and me shared the starter; grilled portobello. It's so yummy. Especially so when we are starving after mega combat. But seriously, the mushroom flesh is nice and thick. Topped with grilled cheese, its a must try. I tell u, even now while blogging it I am salivating! one bite into the sumptuous mushroom meat and I am sold! FYI $16 for this starter. Alvin had dinner at home and decided to "moo" the nite away with this healthy spread. Must be delicious too cos he didn't even shared :-) Crayfish Pasta.. I was actually undecided whether to

I have enough shower gel to last me for a while! Found all these shower gel in my house. Seriously. In fact after taking this foto I found 2 more packets of Shokubutsu in the cabinet under my wash basin. So Daisy, please make sure that no matter how good the sale is, I am to stay away! Trust
