Bratwurst with mash potatoes n Gravy

This is specially for Bert. He wanted mashed potatoes. But hey, i did bought the spuds, wanted to cook it but found out at last minute mum used it to cook curry! So sorry, Bert, no mashed potatoes for you. But here, have a look at how we do it and maybe can get Pimpat to cook for you.
Here it goes, skinned the Russet potatoes (have to use US Russet, others not as nice), boiled them till soft and add salt, butter, black pepper and milk. Start mashing...
And what better to go with mashed spuds but bratwurst and my so special gravy..... and here what i used for my gravy - Barbecue Sauce, Mustard, Some Italian dressings (can substitute with olive oil and some Italian spices), Worchester sauce (not shown here), sugar and for moisture, i added some Heineken....Tiger or Bud will do too :-) Add a bit of cornstarch and stir...
No beer, water also can la. .. set aside.
Not shown in picture is how I cooked the Bratwurst... did that so many times so never thought of taking photos. Anyway, it's piece of cake. Just add some water to the saucepan along with the sausages. Can use beer instead but beer quite ex here so don't want to waste it. Ok, simmer with water on a pan just like the above. Let it boil for 10 minutes, poured away the water and add butter to brown it. When ready, sit it on a bed of mashed potatoes. Next, brown some back bacon in the pan as shown in photo. When done, dished it onto bed of potatoes along with the bratwurst. Now, the unhealthy and yummy part; don't drain away the bacon drippings.... add onions and sauted till slightly soft. Add the gravy (bbq mixed) and cooked, stirring constantly, till thickens..... pour over the sausages, bacon and mashed potatoes. ...n voila... dinner is served.,.
